EXCELLENT EXAMPLE
BLACK WITH RAINBOW INTERIOR
RARE ESTORIL GTI ALLOYS
Here at Old Colonel Cars we have an excellent example of the Golf Gti. This August 1990 Mk2 example, is the sought after 16v model, this one finished in Brilliant Black, with the ‘Rainbow interior’ and the rare ‘Estoril’ 15 inch alloys. These Mk2 GTis are arguably better to drive than the Mk1’s, with more power from the 16v engine, 5 speed manual gearbox and of course power steering. These ‘Big Bumper’ models have a lovely look, even better when in Black like this lovely example. Everyone who has seen this car has been taken by its looks, Take a closer look, this is a really solid and cared for GTi.
These Mk2 GTi’s will slowly increase in value going forward, but more importantly, they are great fun, the perfect weekend classic.
The GTi drives and performs very well, its clearly been maintained and looked after correctly. Recent history shows that In 2009 it was acquired by a well respected motor engineer, working at the Jaguar factory for 21 years, before setting up his own Classic Car garage . The car was part of a small collection, all in dry storage and only lightly used. In 2019, the owner decided he wanted this car driving perfectly, so he performed mechanical restoration. This work included a gearbox rebuild / new clutch / new strut brace / new OEM shocks and springs all round / upgraded starter motor / new headlining / Cambelt / service with all fluids etc.
It was then sold to the current owner. They took the car to be serviced and checked over by Martin’s Volks Werks in January 2021. They performed a service and check over for the new owner, with the comments ‘On inspection this Golf is in excellent condition for year and mileage covered, this Golf has been very well maintained’.
The paintwork on this car has a lovely deep all over shine. Look closer, all solid wheel arches, sills and jacking points all solid. Inside the interior is in excellent shape, everything presents and works very well. The alloys are also all in excellent condition. This car would suit anyone looking for an easy to maintain, weekend classic, it would certainly get lots of attention at the summer shows.
This lovely GTI is now ready to enjoy. This car has now covered 120,000 Miles. The cambelt last changed at 118,882 in May 2019 and will come with a YEARS MOT on sale.
