Here at Old Colonel Cars, the Classic and Performance Car Agency, we are delighted to have this very low mileage, October 2008 Mini R56 John Cooper Works. This superb example has covered only 33,000 miles.
Finished in Dark Silver Metallic, Black roof and mirror caps with a Lea Punch Carbon Black sports interior. Its in excellent condition throughout, a very original example.
These R56 JCW’S are getting very sought after, being the second generation BMW Mini, the first in house, official John Cooper Works cars.
The engine used in the JCW, was developed from the one used in the Mini challenge, 1 make race series. Fitted with a twin scroll turbo, this engine produces 210 BHP. But it not just the power of this engine, its the large amount of torque available, from very low down and the lack of turbo lag that impresses.. These are excellent fun, perfect car for your favourite B roads ..
The JCW package was not just the engine (New head, new Pistons) it also included upgrades to the Brakes (Brembo all round, vented disks on front), Exhaust system (Pops and Crackles on tick over), Suspension (Firmer but not too firm), Gearbox and Clutch, bodywork etc.
The performance is 0-60 in 6.4 secs with a 148 MPH Top speed.
The car features a Sport button, giving even more more low down torque, over boost, sharper steering and throttle response.
This power is controlled by a JCW Electronic diff lock and BMW’s Dynamic Traction Control system. This system works very well and got rave reviews, it allowed the car to enjoyed more before the safety systems kicked in, not matter what the weather conditions.
This low owner car was originally purchased by a buyer in the City of London, used as his London car. He had a collection of very special cars and his own, in house mechanic, who serviced it annually. Since 2012, the car has been serviced and maintained by BMW Park lane.
It drives and performs perfectly, no noises from suspension, engine and gearbox and brakes all working as they should.
