Here at Old Colonel Cars, we are delighted to have this unrepeatable example of the Ford Capri 2.8 Injection Special. This is the most original example you will ever find and comes with the most comprehensive history you could ask for.
This May 1987 example, finished in Crystal Blue with a Grey 1/2 leather Recaro interior. This is one of the very last 2.8i’s produced, this rare paint colour was only available for the last few months of production.
This Capri has been cherished from new like no other.
In May 1987, Mr Warden purchased this car from Zenith Motors Ford in Enfield. The intention from new, was this car was to be saved for special trips only, other cars were used for daily work and this Capri was always garaged. He owned the car for 22 years, only covering 56,000 Miles. In that time, it is estimated he only covered 2000 of this miles in the UK, as he saved the Capri for special trips to Le Mans, Norway and Switzerland etc.
In 2009, the Phelps family felt very lucky to find and purchase this car from the original owner. The car was in the original garage, having been unused for 7 years. We have the pictures from this day, outside the garage, covered in dust, but this remained a completely original car. Whilst in storage it had picked up a couple of scratches etc, from items stored in the garaged with the car, so they commissioned a very high quality re paint (which as you can see still looks flawless today). Every panel on this car remains original and this car has never had an welding etc. Underneath, you can still see the original paint, under a light rust protecting coat. The Phelps family owned this car for 8 years, performing a full mechanical recommissioning whilst taking it to many Ford events etc.
The current owner has owned this car from 2017. He has has this car stored in a bubble, in professional storage, only having very light use on dry days, including taking it to the 50th Anniversary celebrations at Ford. He is a good customer of mine, for many years. He would agree himself, he can be quite picky. The interior was just showing slight wear (hard to even notice in the original pics in the history) but he wanted this car perfect, so commissioned a £3500 interior retrim, using all original materials etc. The results are amazing, sitting in this car, it looks and feels brand new.
So I hope that gives you an idea of the condition of this car, you will not find a better example.
The service history that comes with this car is superb. We have everything from new, the original ford folders with all the original manuals including the original service book. Then we have folders full of every MOT / Tax Disc / Service invoice from new, including original Sales invoice from original purchase from Ford. If paperwork is your thing, it doesn’t get any better than the history with this car.
This Capri has covered 72,000 miles.
This Capri benefits from the original working Ford stereo with its eclectic aerial, perfect parcel shelf, unused original spare wheel and tyre, 2 keys etc.
The current owner has now entrusted this car with me, to find its next lucky owner.
I have sold many classic fords over the last 20 years, but this car is on another level ….
Its comes with a YEARS MOT with no advisories. In fact, look back through the MOT history, I can find only 1 MOT that’s ever had an advisory, that was just for a windscreen chip. A truly amazing example ….
