Here at Old Colonel Cars, the Classic and Performance Car Agency, we are delighted to have this very rare, BMW E28 M535i.
This low owner example has covered only 75,000 miles.
Its very rare to find one of these now, especially an immaculate, rust free example like this.
This is a December 1986 E28 M535i Auto, fitted with the 3.5 straight six engine.
This history with this car is interesting, With only 4 owners in 38 years, the majority of its life it was owner by 1 family, garaged in London. The original service book shows they always had the car service at BMW main dealer Cooper Bishopsgate, the BMW main dealer in the centre of London. There are no less than 16 Main dealer service stamps.
In 2002, with only 69,000 miles, it went into storage until around 2015. The last 2 owners (1 Ireland and the current owner , a good collector client of mine based in the UK) have between them replaced every wear and tear item on this car, with a folder thick of receipts, done any work required to get it to the outstanding condition it is today.
Look at that engine bay, it looks like a new car, look underneath, all solid and in exceptional condition.
The bodywork is the same, all solid arches, all sills jacking points, floor pan all good. Look down the sides, across the bonnet and roof, the Lachs Silver paintwork is in excellent condition, free from any noticeable dings or dents.
Inside, this well appointed example features a Blue M Sport leather interior. Leather was a rare option on these (most where cloth), the condition of the interior of this car is amazing. Seats / Door cards / Carpets / Dash are all just as good. Its all original as well, look at that Blaupunkt Graphic Equaliser (If your old enough to remember what this is). The stereo is a later Blaupunkt unit, designed to look the same as the original, but with more modern technology.
The wheels on this example are a very rare set of Hartge alloys. All are in immaculate example. This is a perfect upgrade, as the original alloys would have featured metric tyres, that are almost impossible to get now.
This car was specified with some rare options, Air conditioning, Electric sunroof, Limited Slipp Diff.
The current owner of this car has had this car fully gone through, as he does with all his collection. The suspension has been refreshed, the exhaust is a lovely stainless steel unit which gives it a lovely deep exhaust note, very well done. This car sits just right and drives and performs very well indeed, these are surprisingly quick with the 220 BHP straight six engine.
All fluids and filters (Engine / Gearbox / Diff) changed in 2021, its been in professional storage, lightly used, as part of a collection until now.
