ULEZ COMPLIANT

Here at Old Colonel Cars, the Classic and Performance Car Agency, we are delighted to have an unmissable example of the Alpina B10 4.6 V8.

This pristine example has covered 118,000 Miles

This example presents perfectly, believed to be 1 of 2 Alpina B10’s finished in Oxford Green Metallic.

The paintwork has the deepest all over shine, no dings, no dents. This B10 comes with the Gold Alpina Stripes. Its got to be one of the best specs for the E39, this car would stand out at any car show or take pride in any collection, its that good.

Inside its finished in Sand with subtle Green piping, with Alpina touches all over the interior.

This Alpina came with pretty much all the options available, it has an excellent factory specification, including M5 front brakes, Double glazing windows, Glass sunroof, Heated seats, Xenon headlights along with the amazing ‘Comfort Sport’ seats

The service history with the Alpina is amazing. Within the last 2 years/ 1500 miles the car has had nearly £9000 expenditure.

Here are a few notes on recent history by the owner .

‘All suspension components have been re-newed. That work consists of all suspension arms, subframe bushes, drop links, anti-roll bar bushings, ball-joints etc. New original BMW bolts were also used to fit everything back together. All of these were fitted by Rob @ RD Motorsport on the outskirts of Edinburgh. At the same time, Rob fitted £4000 worth of Super sprint extractor manifolds, connected to Super sprint connecting pipes with brand new (Bosch) O2 sensors. These were then fabricated onto the original Alpina factory cats and exhaust system. It sounds absolutely lovely whilst still being very ‘Alpina’ & discreet. He also completed a coolant change, fitted HEL carbon braided flexi lines and a proper 4 wheel alignment sat on his motorsport baskets.

Within the last 500 miles, genuine OE Sachs dampers were fitted front and rear together with genuine BMW top mounts, spring pads, bump stops & gaiters. These were all supplied from Barry @ BMR Performance at a cost of over £2200.

The car now drives as close to factory fresh as you might achieve at 26 years old.

Other notable big items already completed over the years are the head gaskets by Munich Legends (lots of various jobs/ services completed by them in the past), a wheel refurb by Lepsons (wheels remain unmarked) together with new wheel centre badges, and the sills repaired through HPC classics prior to my purchasing the car.

Within the last 4000 miles the car has had 4 oil changes (either Motul or Millers), new BMW air filter, new pollen filters, ATE discs and ceramic (low dust) pads to the front, Brembo discs/ pads on the rear, new (genuine) old stock front undertray, genuine BMW idle control valve, 2x genuine BMW TPS sensors, sump gasket & top coolant hose. Bilt Hamber under body wax has been used into the sills and into all the wheel arches and crevices’ .

I can confirm this is an unmissable example, its drives and performs perfectly and is a credit to its owner.

Underneath this B10 is just as good, sills, floor pan all in excellent condition.

The 4.6 V8 runs and sounds perfectly. Its been properly serviced and it shows.

The Gearbox offers normal automatic mode or you can change gear with the steering wheel buttons.

If you are not familiar with this model, this was Alpina’s answer to the M5. This was not designed to be a direct competitor, as it was more designed for a super fast saloon rather than the more hard core M5. These cars left the factory as BMW 4.4 V8’s. They were then taken to the Alpina factory. The engine was modified by increasing the displacement to 4619 cc, new crankshaft, re profiled camshafts, lighter higher compression Mahle pistons and a re-programmed engine management, along with re profiled and ported cylinder heads. This along with suspension / wheels / exhaust / gearbox upgrades resulted in a car with 340 BHP and amazing amounts of torque. Alpina claim ‘at least’ 172 MPH if the mood takes you with a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds, but road tests indicate these figures might be on the conservative side.

These performance figures are impressive, but the main achievement in my eyes is the way they made all these improvements whilst still leaving a perfectly usable daily car yet had stunning performance when needed. Other than a slightly deeper exhaust note on tick over, it’s hard to tell this Alpina from a normal BMW V8. But explore the performance and everything comes together and makes sense. Its staggering, the bespoke Alpina exhaust suddenly makes all the right noises, pops and bangs on the overrun, the instant performance from this large V8 is very addictive, the Switchtronic gearbox with paddle buttons on the steering wheel to change gear works extremely well, I think Alpina got the whole package just right !

The car comes with a fully documented service history from new, all fully documented in large, well organised folders along with all the original manuals etc.

This B10 has been looked after by either BMW or well respected specialist like Munich Legends, BMR Performance etc.

I think this car represents excellent value for money, the colour and spec are perfect, as is the history.

This stunning Alpina is available now ..
