Here we have an amazing car – the legendary BMW E9 3.0 CSL.
The beginning of the BMW ‘M’ cars – production of this car effectivley created the BMW Motorsport department. BMW needed to be more competitive in racing, so they needed to build a lightweight homologation special, so we have the BMW E9 CSL
Changes included increasing engine capacity to just over 3003 cc to allow them to compete with the Capris etc of the day, various bodywork changes / Suspention tweaks, the bodywork used lighter material etc etc. If you are a fan of cars from this era, you will know this all worked very well for BMW, the BMW CSL being very competitive for many years
This example is one of the fuel injected examples, produced in November 1972. One of only 500 RHD cars, less than 250 beleive to now exist making this a very rare car.
This lovely example is finished in Silver with the Black interior.
The current owner of this car has cared for it for 29 years. He has looked after it perfectly, including a full bodywork restoration, pictures available. This was obviously a very good job as this car still is excellent and solid to this day. This car has always been garaged and stored correctly.
For me the best thing about the owner of this lovely car is he used and enjoyed it. It has been driven to many car shows, where it always attracts masses of attention. Hes also enjoyed many classic car events / classic track days etc. So not only does this car look fantastic, its drives and performs just as well. The engine is perfectly responsive, makes the perfect noise that only the best cars from this period can make, gear change is excellent and the brakes are fantastic.
If you are looking for one of these, you will know all about this model. This CSL is ready to jump in and enjoy right away. There is no big list of outstanding jobs, all the electrics work, the interior and bodywork are all in excellent shape, the car drives and performs as it should.
