BARE SHELL RESTORATION
ENGINE FULLY REBUILT
AMAZING HISTORY FROM NEW
Here at Old Colonel Cars we are delighted to have a BMW E30 325i Sport Mtech II Manual. This 1989 example has benefited from a fully documented, bare shell restoration along with a full engine rebuild. This was carried out between 2013 and 2020, with 133,000 miles on the car, costing the owner over £55,000, not including the cost of the car in the first place. So the owner wanted as close to a new car he could get, costs were high, but he just wanted the work performed correctly.
Before this work started, this car was basically a 1 family owned car, with excellent service history. We have 2 folders full of all the history for this cherished BMW, going all the way back to when new. We have all the original books, an original fully stamped service book, the 2 folders of history etc. We have pictures of the before car, it looks excellent. But as with any 80’s car, the body kit can hide work needed, as was the case with this E30.
So the owner is not a person to cut corners, if it needs to be done, it needs to be done right.
So following lots of recommendations, the full bodywork strip down and restoration was trusted to Classic Car Restoration (CCR). They performed an excellent job on the bare shell, any repairs were finished as close to a factory finish as possible, amazing attention to detail. The work was then completed with an excellent repaint, in the original colour, using period paints where possible.
Following more recommendations, the newly painted shell was then transported to BMR Performance, the well renowned BMW Specialist. They were trusted to put the car back together, any bolt / clip that was not up to standard, was replaced, all components cleaned, painted and thenn protected. The engine was then sent of to Scholar Engines (Formula Ford / Lotus / BMW Straight Six engine specialist) for a full rebuild. BMR Performance carried out a fantastic job, the underneath of this car looks amazing, when they had finished it looked like a new car underneath, see the pictures, look at the engine bay, could be in a showroom back in the eighties.
This car was featured in a Classic Cars magazine article, see full set of pictures for copies of write up.
