Here we have an excellent example of one of the best performance, luxury saloons money can buy, the Alpina B10 4.6 V8.
This example is finished in Oxford Green Metallic. The bodywork and paintwork are in excellent condition, no rust, no noticable dings or dents. As with most Alpina’s, the paintwork seems to have just a little extra sparkle, it looks fantastic.
Inside this Alpina is finished in Cream leather with matching piping. This interior has a real luxury feel and is in excellent condition. The original owner specified lovely soft leather and its extended to the door cards etc. The seats are the very expensive option ‘comfort seats’, and they certainly live upto their name. Basically you can adjust every part of the seat, giving you a very comfortable and supportive seat position.
Obviously this car has the lovely Alpina alloys, these are all in excellent condition.
If you are not familiar with this model, this was Alpina’s answer to the M5. This was not designed to be a direct competitor, as it was more designed for a super fast saloon rather than the more hard core M5. These cars left the factory as BMW 4.4 V8’s. They were then taken to the Alpina factory. The engine was modified by increasing the displacement to 4619 cc, new crankshaft, re profiled camshafts, lighter higher compression Mahle pistons and a re-programmed engine management, along with re profiled and ported cylinder heads. This along with suspension / wheels / exhaust / gearbox upgrades resulted in a car with 340 BHP and amazing amounts of torque. This car will do 172 MPH if the mood takes you with a 0-60 time of 5.9 seconds.
These performance figures are impressive, but the main achievement in my eyes is the way they made all these improvements whilst still leaving a perfectly usable daily car, yet had stunning performance when needed. Other than a slightly deeper exhaust note on tickover, its hard to tell this Alpina from a normal BMW V8. But explore the performance and everything comes together and makes sense. Its staggering, the bespoke Alpina exhaust suddenly makes all the right noises, pops and bangs on the overrun, the instant performance from this large V8 is very addictive, the Switchtronic gearbox with paddle buttons on the steering wheel to change gear works extremely well, I think Alpina got the whole package just right !
This example benefits for a full, detailed service history. It comes with all the manuals, a fully stamped original service book and a folder full of Service receipts and old MOT’s etc.
This Alpina B10 V8 is an excellent car and this example drives and performs perfectly.
It will come with a new MOT on sale !!
